Walked out of Prison and walked into my Promise.

In 2017, I was sentenced to 4 years in Shakopee womens prison. When I first received Kiki’s contact information, it was simply to call for prayer because Second Family Circle even supports people who just need someone to pray with/for them. Sometimes you may not be in need of a hand, sometimes you need a listening ear, and there were days when i just needed to talk and kiki was always one call away.

What started as prayer calls and calls just to vent to a listening ear, became one of the greatest blessings of my life. For 2.5 years, Kiki consistently uplifted me. She sent me weekly emails filled with scriptures, words of encouragement, and kind words that gave me hope during some of the darkest moments of my life. When I felt forgotten by the world, she reminded me that I still mattered. She sent cards in the mail during the holidays and my birthday. She went on social media, got pictures of my kids and family, and sent them as well.

Before I was released, Kiki was already helping me prepare for a better future. She sent me information about family court so I could fight to get my four children back, connected me with housing resources, and even had three job opportunities waiting for me. The day i was released, she sat on the phone with me and even met with me to complete paperwork for county assistance, helped me locate support groups, helped me schedule appointments for therapy and find a church home.

She has literally supported me through every obstacle I faced and believed in me when it felt like everyone else had turned their backs and given up on me. I will forever be grateful for you, Kiki. Thank you for seeing the good in me when I couldn’t see it in myself. I truly pray you continue this amazing work because people like you change lives.”
